You play an important role in reentry! Employment is one of the most critical components to a successful return to society. If ex-felons can find gainful employment and maintain an income, the likelihood that they will re-offend diminishes exponentially. You have the opportunity to help create one of the first and most stable bridges to their success.
There are many reasons to hire an ex-felon. In addition to the unique skills and qualities they bring to the job on their own, federal and state support is available in the form of bonding programs and tax incentives (see below).

The skills inmates rely on in prison are different from the ones we use out here. The relationships are quite different, too. To appreciate some of the cultural challenges a newly released prisoner has, consider the following lifestyle differences in Culture Shock.
Formerly incarcerated people are among the most marginalized and stigmatized people in our society. If we don’t give them a chance to succeed, they will be more likely to re-offend, return to prison and again become a tax burden rather than an asset.
